According to the Edmonton Humane Society, Calgary City Council did the right thing when it voted to not ban pit bulls.
The EHS says breed bans and restrictions aren't fair, because it's not just breeding that makes a dog dangerous.
Several pit bull attacks have recently been reported in Calgary. The Humane Society's Shauna Randolph says it's sensationalist to single out one breed, when there are plenty of dog attacks that go unreported.
"Really what we need is members of the media responsibly reporting and educating the public that it is any kind of dog, any kind of breed that can potentially be one that bites," says Randolph.
This past October, Council repealed Edmonton's restriction on the pit bull breed, something the EHS had been fighting for. (ms/scb)
